I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to Dr. Lal for elevating the health status of our community and being a physician whom St. Joseph Mercy Hospital staff and volunteers would recommend to their family and friends.”

The St. Joseph Mercy Patient-Focused Physician of the Month is designed to highlight outstanding collaboration between our physician community and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital patient care and volunteer staff. Nominations are accepted from all staff and volunteers, and are blinded and reviewed by a Nominations Review Committee. The award is presented each month to a physician on staff at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.

“It is very gratifying to receive this recognition, especially as it comes from one’s partners in patient care,” comments Anup Lal, MD. “Clinical trials are very important in providing state of the art cancer treatment, and the hard work of the hospital administration and research staff in this area is very commendable. It is a privilege to work with them – as well as the nurses – all of whom are so dedicated to the cancer program.”

Dr. Lal lives in St. Clair County with his wife, Dr. Rafia Khalil and their three sons. He is active in the local cancer committees and other physician organizations. He has privileges at Port Huron, St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron and River District Hospitals.
